On March 26, 2026, the MoodleMoot China 2026 conference was held at the Shuzhou Campus of Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Liverpool Campus. Mr. Alexander Angel Corrochano from the Information Technology Development Office (ITDO) of Macau University of Science and Technology was invited to introduce the infrastructure supporting the daily use of Moodle services by students and faculty, as well as the modernization plan for Moodle services being implemented by ITDO, to all attendees, including Moodle CEO Mr. Martín Dougiamas and Chief Product Officer Ms. Marie Achour.
The new version of Moodle includes new features that use artificial intelligence as a teaching tool, which will be available to faculty and students. Mr. Martín Dougiamas explained the future development direction of Moodle and how it will adapt to the new internet usage patterns brought about by the integration of artificial intelligence into users’ daily lives. He stated that Moodle is striving to provide a better user experience and facilitate interaction between AI agents and the platform.
On the same day, other speakers from top universities in China and Moodle service providers shared their experiences using Moodle in their respective institutions and applying artificial intelligence in training programs. The friendly atmosphere among the attendees and the excellent organization of the event greatly facilitated the exchange of ideas and future cooperation.
