On January 29-30, 2026, the Information Technology Development Office (ITDO) of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and a delegation from the Peking University Computer Center successfully held a one-and-a-half-day in-depth technical exchange meeting at M.U.S.T. The meeting focused on core topics such as smart campus construction, computing power platform development, cybersecurity governance, and cutting-edge applications of artificial intelligence, sharing practical experiences and exploring future cooperation. Against the backdrop of the AI wave sweeping through global higher education, this exchange is a significant initiative by both institutions to look towards the future and deepen collaboration.
The meeting was co-chaired by Zhao Xi Chen, Director of the MUST Information Technology Development Office, and Ma Hao, Director of the Peking University Computer Center. Over twenty colleagues from related fields participated, including Xiao Long, Director of the MUST. Library, Yan Shi Lei, Deputy Director of the Library, and Yuan Hu Sheng, Manager of ITDO.
Director Zhao Xi Chen first delivered a welcome speech on behalf of ITDO, extending a warm welcome to the Peking University delegation. Subsequently, Director Ma Hao presented a keynote report titled "The Future Has Arrived, the Past Has Not Left: Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Transformation of Universities." The report analyzed how universities can balance preserving traditional strengths with embracing change, and introduced Peking University's progress in areas such as smart campus construction, intelligent computing platform development, and cybersecurity governance through top-level design and the integration of internal and external resources, outlining a clear vision for the future smart campus. Following this, experts from the Peking University Computer Center, including Zhou Chang Ling, Fan Chun, Li Ruo Miao, and Long Ting Ting, delivered thematic reports on "Building a University Cybersecurity Ecosystem," "AI-Assisted Security Practices," "Computing Power Platform System SCOW," and "Remote Access Platform ShadowDesk," respectively, sharing Peking University's experiences and practical achievements.

During the exchange and discussion session, the MUST ITDO team shared their work achievements in digital and intelligent transformation with the attendees. Manager Yuan Hu Sheng introduced the latest developments of MUST's one-stop smart service platform WeMust and explained the university's innovative practices in utilizing artificial intelligence to empower teaching, research, and administrative services. Currently, the university-level computing power service platform MUST AI Supercomputing Center (MAISC) has been launched for trial operation. Based on this platform, the WeMust super-intelligent agent Muster has also been put into use, demonstrating broad application prospects in the fields of teaching, research, management, and services. MUST has taken a solid step forward in AI and computing power infrastructure construction. Yang Hong Rui and Yi Rui Yu engaged in in-depth discussions with the visiting team on key technical details of the intelligent computing platform.

This exchange went beyond simple experience sharing, as both sides engaged in deep dialogue on development strategies, unanimously agreeing that the future development of universities depends on the ability to harness emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Through in-depth exchanges, both parties reached several specific cooperative intentions: jointly hosting the "Global University Computing Power Platform and Application Conference," and collaboratively promoting the expansion and implementation of high-level science and innovation activities led by Peking University, such as the National Cybersecurity Competition and the Supercomputing Competition, in the Hong Kong and Macao regions. Both sides will also engage in deep cooperation in core areas such as intelligent computing platform construction, AI application R&D, and talent cultivation.
This exchange with Peking University will strongly promote the development of Macau University of Science and Technology in the field of smart education, achieving complementarity in technology and resources, and resonance in innovative vision and development landscape. The meeting deepened mutual understanding and trust, laying the foundation for substantive cooperation in areas such as computing power sharing, technological R&D, and talent cultivation in the future. Through close cooperation with top-tier institutions, MUST will accelerate its development pace in the AI era, injecting momentum into the university's long-term development and technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area.
